The Other Martyr: Insights from the Life of Hyrum Smith

TheOtherMartyr

I loved this book by Susan Easton Black. You always here about Joseph Smith and his part of the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but in her book she tells of how Hyrum Smith also played a significant part of the restoration. I learned details of history that I have never known before. Continue reading

Adoring Abigail

AdoringAbigail

Adoring Abigail by Chalon Linton is a delightful tale of romance and finding where you belong. Each book by Chalon Linton gets better and better. I thought I love the last book she wrote, but this one is even better in my opinion. Mr. Robert Wilkins is the definition of a hero. Not only in battle on the field, but battle in securing the heart of the woman he loves. I for one recommend this book to all romance lovers. You don’t want to miss this one. You’ll thank me later, I’m sure. Continue reading

A Change of Fortune

AChangeofFortune

Note: I was given an advance copy of this book. The following is my honest review.

This contemporary romance by Traci Hunter Abramson was so full of heart and a unique situation most people don’t find themselves in. I can’t even imagine being in the leading lady’s shoes. Like other books by Traci Hunter Abramson, this plot moves quickly, the characters were developed well, and hard to put down. I blame Traci for making me stay up way past my bedtime so I could finish this book, which made me run a little behind in getting to work. Oh well. It was definitely worth the read. Continue reading

Where the Stars Meet the Sea

WheretheStarsMeettheSea

I started listening to this book forever ago, but was not able to get back to it until a couple of days ago. But I couldn’t remember what was happening, so I started the book all over again. I have to say that now that I’ve finished this book it has become one of my favorites. (Note: A true reader cannot have just one favorite book. It’s nearly impossible to have just one favorite.) The Duke of Halstead reminds me of one of my favorite characters, The Duke of Kielder, but they are also very different as well. The author, Heidi Kimball did an excellent job in making me feel like I was the star of the story, Juliet Graham. I for one did not want my time with the Duke of Halstead to end. But, with every story out there, they all must come to an end. Continue reading

Dahlia: A Gifted Novella

Dahlia

This paranormal novella by Shannen Crane Camp is a nice short read dealing with gifted individuals. The author hooks you in with the chemistry between two gifted individuals, and leaves you hanging in the end wanting to know what happens next.

Jefferson Parrish from the author’s book Parrish also had a cameo appearance in this story which made it even more fun. You do not need to read Parrish in order to read this novella.

I recommend this novella to those who enjoy romance and paranormal stories.

Book Blurb

Dahlia Parrish has lived all 19 years of her life isolated in her Concord home. She and her sisters have long been thought of as the town witches, even though they prefer the term “gifted”. But Dahlia’s sisters finally trust her to strike out on her own on a paranormal recruiting mission. With the goal of finding other gifted people in the world and bringing them together, Dahlia’s first assignment goes way off track when she feels an unexpected connection to the man she’s been sent to recruit. The only problem is, his “gift” means he can’t touch anyone without almost killing them. This may put a damper on Dahlia’s newfound romance and the distraction Jonas poses may jeopardize the rest of her mission.

Emmeline

Emmeline

Emmeline by Jennifer Moore is a novella, that is only available as an ebook, that precedes Saving Sophronia that starts off the Blue Orchid Society series. This is the story of Sophronia’s grandparents Emmeline and Lord Mather.  Though it was short, it was very sweet.  I loved their story. I feel as though I need a Lord Mather in my life now.
